For Children, Youth, and Families
RG Aktiv Rehabilitering works to ensure that children and young people with physical disabilities have every opportunity to live inspiring, active, and independent lives – now and in the future.
RG Camps
RG offers camps for children and youth who have a spinal cord injury or other similar physical disabilities. The common denominator of the participants is that they use a manual wheelchair, either partially or fully, or some kind of walking aid. Since living independently with a spinal cord injury requires both strength and technique, this is what our camps focus on.
Our camps are run by peer mentors – individuals who themselves live with a physical disability. This ensures that participants always have someone to turn to for answers, insight and practical tips. Important pieces of the puzzle are new friendships, a strong sense of community, and lots of laughter.
Other Activities
In addition to camps, RG also offers outdoor recreation, family support, and digital theme sessions.
Outdoor Recreation
For many families, outdoor activities are a great way to enjoy something together. Kayaking and sledge skating are two examples of activities well-suited for people with mobility impairments.
Support for Family Members
Family Camps (ages 9–13) gives parents and siblings the chance to meet others in similar situations and connect with adult peer mentors who live with disabilities.
If your child has sustained a spinal cord injury, you also have the opportunity to connect with a family support contact – someone who has been in a similar situation and can offer support, a listening ear, and share their own experiences.
Digital Theme Sessions
Several times a year, RG hosts online theme meetups for its members, focusing on various topics often relevant to children, youth, and their families.
